MARTINSVILLE — At 11:21 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2024, someone came into the McDonald’s in Martinsville for an early lunch.
The person walked up to register No. 6 — one of the self-serve kiosks inside the lobby — and ordered a Big Mac meal, complete with medium fries and a medium Coke.
The person took out a credit card to pay the bill, which totaled $9.71. But before the Visa was swiped, the prompt came on the screen: Would you like to round up for the Ronald McDonald House?
The answer was yes, adding $0.29 to their bill and bringing the total...
