MOORESVILLE — While both support and opposition were expressed at a previous public hearing, overwhelming opposition was expressed at last Thursday’s hearing on the proposed fire territory between the town of Mooresville and Brown Township.

In recent months, officials within Mooresville and Brown Township have been discussing a potential merger of their two respective fire departments by creating a fire territory.
Township and town officials have said their interest in creating the territory is to improve staffing within the two fire departments and retain firefighters who often leave for neighboring departments and higher salaries.
The proposed territory, however, would increase property taxes for residents of Mooresville and unincorporated areas...
