  1. I agree about “Don’t let the architect determine what you need.” I work in nursing homes and I’m flabbergasted at how little thought seems to go into facility plans. We have a population that is morbidly obese and some of their wheelchairs can’t fit through some of the doorways. You have to take the door off the hinges to get them to fit! So, yes. Keep an eye on those blueprints before you go to build.
