MORGAN COUNTY — The Flajs brothers from Jackson Township were the first to fill out an official ballot in Morgan County’s 2026 Primary Election as they showed up to the Election Office about 10 minutes before early voting officially began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Their top priority of the morning was to pay their property taxes at the treasurer’s office, but since they were already at the county’s administration and judicial campus, they figured they’d cast their votes in the primary while they were at it.
On their heels came Doris and Richard Byers from Green Township.
With Morgan County dominated by the GOP, the primary election is often where local elections are decided, and this year is no different. Between the sheriff, prosecutor, judge, county council and county commissioner races, some high-profile county positions are up for grabs.
