LEGAL NOTICE OF PROPOSED INCREASE IN WATER AND SEWER RATES FOR CUSTOMERS

OF MAPLETURN UTILITIES, INC.

Cause #46292-U-Sewer

Notice is hereby given that Mapleturn Utilities, Inc. did on August 21, 2025 file an Application with

the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to increase the water and sewer charges to customers of Mapleturn Utilities Inc.  

 

Mapleturn Utilities, Inc. is a Not-For-Profit utility that provides water and sewer to the communities, homes, and businesses on Mapleturn Road in Morgan County.

 

This application was filed pursuant to Indiana Code 8-1-2-61.5 without the necessary cost of a Utility

Regulatory commission hearing; however a public hearing by the Utility Regulatory Commission may be

held if any public or municipal corporation, ten (10) individuals, firms, corporations or associations or

ten (10) complainants of all or any of these classes affected by the proposed rate change requests a

formal public hearing by filing a written, signed request with the Secretary, Utility Regulatory

Commission, PNC Center, 101 West Washington Street, Suite 1500 E. Indianapolis, Indiana

  1. Said request must be received by the Utility Regulatory Commission within forty (40) days after

the date the application was filed with the Utility Regulatory Commission and declared complete. In

addition, a public hearing may be held if the same is requested by the Utility Consumer Counselor.

 

The proposed rate increase for water requested by the application is 30.77%.  The proposed rate increase for sewer is 49.26%.  These increases will result in monthly bills of $136.28 for combined water and sewer. This is for a typical household using less than 7000 gallons of water and it does not include Indiana state sales tax.  All non-recurring charges and the use schedule remain the same.  

 

In the absence of a written request as provided herein, there likely will be no hearing conducted by the

Utility Regulatory Commission on this application.

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS OF PROPOSED ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO THE TAXPAYERS OF MORGAN COUNTY, INDIANA, THAT THE MORGAN COUNTY COUNCIL AT THEIR REGULAR MEETING PLACE AT 6:30 P.M. MONDAY, October 6, 2025, WILL CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN EXCESS OF THE BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 2025. GENERAL FUND (1000) $7,320.00, 1000.12200.00000.0279 OVERTIME, LIT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUND (1112) $36,400, 1112.16530.00000.0529 WORKMENS COMP,  MONROE TOWNSHIP EMS STATION FUND (4801) $110,053.22, 4801.44050.00000.0000 MONROE TOWNSHIP EMS STATION.

TAXPAYERS APPEARING AT THE MEETING SHALL HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HEARD. APPROPRIATIONS, AS FINALLY MADE WILL BE REFERRED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCE. THE BOARD WILL MAKE A WRITTEN DETERMINATION AS TO THE SUFFICIENCY OF FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE APPROPRIATIONS MADE WITHIN (15) DAYS OF RECEIPT OF A CERTIFIED COPY OF THE ACTION TAKEN.

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

The Morgan County Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals will meet October 01, 2025, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Brenda Brittain conference room located on the second floor at 180 S Main St, Martinsville, IN. The purpose of the meeting will be to review applications for property tax exemptions and Form 130 Petitions for Review of Assessments.
