MORGAN COUNTY — The final decision on rezoning nearly 400 acres of property in Monroe Township is now in the hands of the Morgan County Commissioners.
After nearly three hours of testimony Monday night, mostly against the request, members of the Morgan County Plan Commission voted 7 to 1 to send the rezoning request to the commissioners with a favorable recommendation.
At issue was a request from the Morgan County Economic Development Corp. — a private organization that uses public funds to facilitate local investments — to rezone the land from AG/Residential-3 to Planned Unit Development zoning for a proposed “data center.”
The meeting was delayed due to problems with the recording, internet and the public address systems.
