Council approves tax breaks for southside development

MOORESVILLE — Two tax abatements for proposed buildings located within the Innovation Park 67 project, located north of Glanbia on Mooresville’s south side, are closer to reality after public hearings were held during the Jan. 21 meeting of the Mooresville Town Council.
Steve Schaub, representing Avision Young Industrial Affinity Group, said work on the two buildings, a 12,000-square-foot building and a 30,000-square-foot building, is expected to begin this spring.
He also told the council that a Louisville-based company is looking to potentially build a 20,000-square-foot building within the project.
Chis Finney, an owner and project manager of Commercial Team Construction (CTC), which currently owns the land Innovation Park 67 is located on, told the council there are multiple companies looking to locate to the site.
“The tax abatement helps drive the cost down for the client,” Finney said.
Ultimately, the council unanimously voted to approve both abatements.
