MOORESVILLE — The town of Mooresville and Brown Township will continue to consider a potential merger of their fire departments after the town’s council voted to keep looking into the creation of a fire territory during its Jan. 7 meeting.
Brown Township Trustee Mark Harris told the council the township’s board has already approved to continue discussions on the proposed fire territory.
“And I’m asking the town council to do the same,” Harris said.
Town council president Tom Warthen said at its last meeting, the council was given a timeline it would have to follow in order to move forward with the discussion.
“At that meeting, we said that this council would make a decision tonight,” Warthen said during the Jan. 7 meeting. “If we choose to move forward, a phone call will be made to Paige (Sansone) from BakerTilly in the morning, and she will submit a notice to the taxpayers and the newspaper for public hearings.”
