MARTINSVILLE — The Martinsville Board of Works and Safety (BOW) voted to renew its contract with the Morgan County Economic Development Corp. (EDC) at its Dec. 23 meeting.
EDC executive director Mike Dellinger was on hand for the meeting to lobby for the annual contract in 2025, touting the many accomplishments his organization completed on behalf of the city throughout the year.
“We appreciate your continued partnership with us,” he said. “And we hope you will continue to contract with us in 2025.”
Similar to his 2025 request, the city invested $60,000 into the EDC last year, and two city officials serve as representatives on its board — mayor Kenny Costin and councilman Ben Mahan.
Last year, the city requested that $30,000 be granted back to the city for a “retail consultant” to bring in more retail companies into the city.
