MARTINSVILLE — Cherry picker trucks, chainsaws and heavy machinery made quick work Saturday morning of the longstanding trees that have surrounded the Morgan County Courthouse for decades.
Last weekend’s effort is the first step of many, as county officials prepare to completely renovate the courthouse and retrofit it for county offices — including the construction of an addition on the north side of the building for a new elevator and stair system.
The renovation of the courthouse is one of three phases involved in the $72 million judicial center project.
