MORGAN COUNTY — A former county attorney and Martinsville City Council member facing multiple felony counts including theft, counterfeiting, corrupt business influence, and official misconduct has agreed to a plea agreement that calls for him to repay around $164,000 to his clients.
James Kent Wisco has agreed to plead guilty to seven counts of theft, all level six felonies.
In return, the state will dismiss 15 additional charges filed against him.
Wisco will repay the clients he took money from. One of those clients is Morgan County, which will receive around $11,000 from its former attorney.
He will be sentenced April 25 at 9 a.m. in Morgan Superior Court II in front of special judge Steven David.
In addition to repaying his clients, Wisco is facing a maximum sentence of 10 years on the total sentence with a cap of four years to be served.
Where he serves his time will be up to the judge. He could be sentenced to the department of corrections, home detention or probation.
