MONROVIA — A proposal to create an Ordinance Violations Bureau — a three-member body that would accept admissions, payments and appeals from members of the public accused of violating a town ordinance — was first presented to the Monrovia Town Council in June of last year.
Now, seven months later, that same proposal has finally passed.
The creation of the bureau was tabled several times last year, every time out of the desire to consult with the town’s attorney, Samantha DeWester, to make sure every part of the ordinance was legally sound.
Details of the powers the bureau will possess were outlined in a board packet shared with The Correspondent after the town council’s monthly meeting Jan. 28.
The bureau will consist of three appointed members.
One member will be an elected official from the town council, and will be chosen by the town council. This member will serve for three years.
