MORGAN COUNTY — The Morgan County Council held its week delayed meeting last Tuesday night, Jan. 14, to reorganize and look at plans for 2025.
The council re-elected Kim Merideth as council president and Vickie Kivett as vice president.
The council spent some time discussing the formation of a committee to look at updating the county’s Personal Time Off (PTO) policy.
Last month, a proposed change in that policy generated a lot of complaints from both employees and elected officials. The council and the commissioners rejected the proposed change. They discussed the formation of a committee to review the current policy.
At issue is the way PTO is awarded to employees and their ability to “stockpile” time.
Currently, employees earn PTO at the beginning of the year. Their time is “front loaded,” which gives them time off they may not have yet earned.
