NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE

TOWN OF MONROVIA, INDIANA

Notice is hereby given that the Monrovia Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at Monrovia Government Center, 60 S. Marley Way, Monrovia, Indiana, to consider an ordinance to amend title VII of the Monrovia Code of Ordinances.  The following fees would apply if approved. 

Stop Sign Violation – Fee ranges from $75 to $150. (Ordinance states not to Exceed $2500.00)

-If paid within 15 days $75, if paid 16 days or later $100 court administrative fees apply, If contested the costs would be set by the court plus court costs.

Speeding – Fee ranges from $75 to $150. (Ordinance states equal to court costs plus administrative costs $150.00 plus administrative costs)

-If paid within 15 days $75, if paid 16 days or later $100 court administrative fees apply, If contested costs would be set by the court plus court costs.

No parking – Fee ranges from $25 to $75 (Ordinance states not to exceed $100)

-If paid within 15 days $25, if paid 16 days or later $75 court administrative fees apply, If contested the costs would be set by the court plus court costs.

Prohibited Solicitation – $75 to $150 (Ordinance states not to exceed $2500.00)

-If paid within 15 days $75, if paid 16 days or later $100 court administrative fees apply, If contested the costs would be set by the court plus court costs.

Animal – Fee range $75 to $150 (Ordinance states not to exceed $2500.00)

-If paid within 15 days $75, if paid 16 days or later $100 court administrative fees apply, If contested the costs would be set by the court plus court costs.

 

Below if approved by Town Council for Ordinance to be created.

 Vehicle compliance with state law required. – It shall be unlawful and a violation to operate any motor vehicle or motorcycle on the roads or public ways of the town Monrovia that is not equipped and/or registered by state statute.

-Fee Schedule – If paid within 15 days $75, if paid 16 days or later $100 court administrative fees apply, If contested the cost would be set by the court plus court costs.

 Head, Tail, and License plate lamp illumination required. – Headlamps, tail lamps and license plate lamps are to be illuminated any time the motor vehicle or motorcycle is being operated on the public roads and ways within the town as required by state statute.

NOTICE TO BIDDERS

 

Notice is hereby given that the City of Martinsville, herein referred to as the Owner, will receive sealed bids to construct project described below.

Project Overview
This project includes the relocation and installation of C.R. Schiefer limestone sculptures, cosmetic repair work, construction of concrete foundations and steel supports, and installation of landscaping, lighting, and signage at two public locations: 183 N Jefferson Street, Martinsville and traffic roundabout at 686 S Ohio Street, Martinsville.   The sculptures are currently located on private property on Low Gap Road, Martinsville—approximately 7 miles south of downtown. Contractors must coordinate with Landstory, Inc. or Mack Porter with the City of Martinsville prior to visiting the site. Unauthorized access is strictly prohibited. 

The City of Martinsville reserves the right to interpret the suitability of the contractor’s prequalifications to perform the work.  The final decision regarding suitability rests with the City.  The City further reserves the right to award the contract to the lowest and most qualified responsible bidder or bidders.  A qualified bidder or bidders shall be determined by the City of Martinsville as having the necessary experience and demonstrated qualifications.

Sealed bids are invited and may be forwarded by mail or in person to the City of Martinsville, Attn. Mack Porter, 59 South Jefferson Street, Room 105, Martinsville, IN 46151; until 4:00 PM on August 25, 2025. Bids received after such hour will be returned unopened. Bids will be opened and publicly read during the Board of Works meeting that evening at 6:30 PM. Bids will be taken under advisement for review by the Owner & Designer, with an award on September 28, 2025.
